Best Mobile Phones of All Time

December 8th 2010 01:55
Which are the best mobile phones ever created?
Obviously a very difficult question to answer, but Complex.com has put together a list of the top 50 cellphones of our time (click to visit).

Below are a selection taken from the top 10.
Do you agree with the list?

best mobile phones of all time
Nokia 3310: 2000
The most ubiquitous phone of the first mobile renaissance, the Nokia 3300 series was an institution. The phone had a removable, customizable casing that made it personal to its many loyal users, and was built like a battle tank, able to last for years and years. As phone technology leapfrogged into the future, many 3300 owners saw little need to upgrade. Snake II was the game to beat and a welcome, addictive distraction in class or at work. For those who owned one, this phone was like family. And its enduring success helped make Nokia the company to beat in the emerging mobile wars.

most popular mobiles
Motorola StarTac: 1996
The Motorola StarTac revolutionized the mobile phone with its bold, yet simplistic new form factor. The first ever flip phone, and the smallest by a mile at the time, the StarTac would be emulated endlessly for a decade. Despite a $1,000 initial price tag, 60 million were sold worldwide.

best smart phones ever made
HTC Nexus One: 2010
With the Nexus One, Google took phone production into its own hands, a remarkable step for the hardware-averse company. HTC handled the details, but the big G made clear that they had gone all-in. Released at the beginning of this year (a time that seems like eons ago), the Nexus One was groundbreaking in its efforts to skirt the traditional carrier model. The phone was sold by Google itself in unlocked form, and featured a stock version of Android 2.1. It was a feature powerhouse with a market-leading processor and five-megapixel camera, effectively eclipsing the Droid as the go-to phone for anti-iPhoners everywhere.

Ericsson Classic phone design
Ericsson T28: 2000

Thin, uncommonly compact, and refined, Ericsson's T28 was gifted with Swedish understatement. Its full graphic display, solid build, and voice-dialing feature made it ideal for non-fussy professionals seeking a clean look and experience.

Best cellphone ever made
iPhone - 2007
Hate it or love it, the original iPhone changed mobile phones (and mobile computing) forever. Up until 2007, smartphones just couldn't get it right—they were too complicated, often stylus-dependent, and offered an experience far inferior to the PCs they impishly imitated. The iPhone upended the industry by starting from scratch. In an aggressive win for minimalist design, it eschewed prevailing aesthetics and offered only an extraordinarily large touchscreen as its interface. Since its release, many things about the phone are now taken for granted as standards, including multitouch gestures, threaded text-messaging, and built-in data plans. By forcing every other phone to get smarter, the original iPhone became that rare device that divides the history of its entire category in two: before the iPhone and after the iPhone.
