Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

February 27th 2009 09:35
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is a two-day benched conformation show that takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City every year. Dog owners from around the world come to show their dogs. Dogs are judged closely by eminent American Kennel Club (AKC) judges. It is considered by many to be America's most prestigious dog show. The 133nd WKC Dog Show was held February 9-10, 2009. After the Crufts international show held annually in the UK, the Westminster Kennel Club show is considered one of the largest and most prestigious in the world.

Here are some pictures taken at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show over the years. Many more photos can be seen here.

360 View From the Top of Mt Everest

February 25th 2009 09:09
Mt Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth, standing at a staggering 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level. At that height visibility can be very low and conditions can be incredibly inhospitable, changing in an instant. However when the air is clear it does literally look like the top of the world. Below is an incredible 360 degree scenic view from the summit of Earth's highest mountain.

HDRI (High Dynamic Range Imaging)

February 23rd 2009 07:39
Information stored in high dynamic range images usually corresponds to the physical values of luminance or radiance that can be observed in the real world. This is different from traditional digital images, which represent colours that should appear on a monitor or a paper print. Therefore, HDR image formats are often called "scene-referred", in contrast to traditional digital images, which are "device-referred" or "output-referred".
Here are some stunning images in HDRI, more can be seen here.

Rare Buddy Holly Pictures

February 20th 2009 11:26
Buddy Holly's success lasted only a year and a half before his death in an airplane crash in 1959. Holly has been described as "the single most influential creative force in early rock and roll." His works and innovations were copied by his contemporaries and later musicians, notably The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones, and exerted a profound influence on popular music. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Holly #13 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Thanks to Time.com, today we have some rarely seen photographs of Buddy Holly. More interesting pictures can be seen here.

Holly pauses during rehearsals at the Trocadero in London, March 1958. In an interview at the time, he told a reporter "We've been going a year, and one always wonders how long it's going to last. But so far the public seems to like us and we hope that as long as we don't make any mistakes we shall be alright."

Greenland Towns

February 18th 2009 07:21
Greenland is the world's largest island located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans. It is self governing but part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Greenland has a total population of 50,000 and even the capital city only has 15,000. However, there are a number of rural towns along the ice-free south western coast.
Residents of Greenland love to decoarte the land with colorful houses as the pictures below demonstrate.
